We have been a part of the Rivertowns community since 1974. It has been our privilege to be able to serve the many families who have come through our doors. We welcome your visit to our preschool at anytime, and our staff looks forward to getting acquainted with your child. Please know that, in addition to being well prepared for entering kindergarten, your child will be loved, and appreciated as an individual during his/her time with us.
The classes we offer from year to year are listed below. We might need to add or remove programs depending on enrollment each year. Please call our office for current programming. Our classes are grouped by age and by the number of days a child is attending. All programs are supervised by a Teacher and an Assistant.
Our Busy Beginner 2 Day Class for children age 2½ by Dec. meets on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:15-11:45 am. There is only one class available. A teacher and an assistant supervise this class with a maximum of 8 students.
Our 3 Day, 4 Day and 5 Day Classes for children ages 3-4 years by Dec. Our 3 day class meets W-F. Our 4 day class meeets T-F, and Our 5 day class meets M-F. All classes take place from 9:15 to 11:45 am with an enrollment of 10-12 children.
Our classes have a daily, rotating schedule of Free-play in two areas, including arts and crafts, manipulatives, blocks, cars and trucks, dolls and accessories, writing center, etc.; Snack; which we provide; Music and Story; where we listen, discuss, move, sing, and dance; and Gym on our playground outside or inside in our Fellowship Hall on rainy and very cold days; and Discovery, where we explore 9 different curriculum themes with hands-on activities.
Fit Kids Club and Kreative Kids Club: These are our "lunch bunch" programs which run on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:45 - 1:30. There is a separate fee for these programs, which will be announced in September. All your child needs to bring is a lunch and a smile!
Summer Program: Our summer program runs for the month of July from 9:30am to 12:30 and engages your children in a variety of indoor and outdoor summer themed activities. Our playgrounds are comfortable and shady during summer mornings, and the children enjoy their time outside.
Our students are 2½ , 3 or 4 years of age by December of the year in which they are attending our program. Our youngest students do not have to be toilet-trained, but you will need to give us permission to change your child, if you are comfortable with this. We do ask that any student older than 3½ have adequate toilet skills.
Registration begins in December for the next September and continues on an on-going basis throughout the pre-school year. Our school year begins the second week of September and ends the second week of June. You must complete the registration process for each year your child will be in our program.
This fee is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable. Please see tuition and fees page for current tuition amounts. All checks should be payable to: CHRISTIAN PRE-SCHOOL. If paying in cash, you must receive a receipt from our office to ensure your account is credited.
We do have scholarship money available for families in need. The amount of scholarship we can offer depends on donations from Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church and other individuals/organizations. To apply, there is information you will need to forward to our office and you will need to meet with our Director.
The Christian Pre-School is a ministry of Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church grounded in the word of God, offering a Christian-based non-denominational preschool experience that actively engages and encourages the faith lives of our families. Our program enables your child's hands-on exploration and discovery of God's world. Recognizing the importance of becoming a responsible and respectful member of any community, we encourage a child's empathy for others and show them the importance of caring for the world God created. At the same time, we use the NYS Common Core for PreSchool to ensure that your child is socially, emotionally and academically ready to move on to Kindergarten when the time comes.
We understand young children need teachers who are kind and loving. We know children need learning opportunities balanced with their need for play. We encourage each child in his or her unique skills and abilities. At Christian Pre-School, your child will experience opportunities for spiritual, emotional, social, physical and intellectual awareness and growth.
